Elegant and minimal Peppermint vase by Dust London is handmade from recycled tea waste, which provides its natural pigment and subtle texture. The vase moulds are made using traditional origami techniques. The colour of the vase depends on the tea variation used, including English breakfast, Rooibos, Peppermint, Chamomile and Black tea.
The process begins with a sheet of paper that will be scored, folded and pinched to create the desired form. Then the paper is reinforced and worked through a series of steps to create a robust and seamless silicone mould. Next, the tea waste is collected, separated and thoroughly dried before being mixed with a non-toxic binder and poured into the mould.
The vase is most suitable for dried flowers. The vase can hold water or be filled with soil, but neither should be left in for an extended amount of time. Dust London is working with an organic material which can produce slight variations in the surface finish of their vases.
