LOOV KULTUUR

Cité de la Mode et du Design

From December 8, 2017 through January 21, 2018, the Cité de la Mode et du Design presents Loov Kultuur*, an immersive voyage into the heart of Estonian culture and lifestyle.

Design, art, fashion, street art, photography, animated film... An indoor and outdoor circuit, with art as your only baggage, that takes you through a country celebrating a century of independence in 2018. This will also provide a chance to display the work of French artists inspired by Estonia: a perspective, cross-cultural view.

A production of the Cité de la Mode et du Design, in partnership with NID, with the support of “100 Years of the Republic of Estonia”, the Estonian Ministry of Culture, and the Estonian Presidency of the Council of the European Union.

The program includes various events, such as Estonian design pop-up store and exhibition Size Doesn't Matter, architectural installation by Salto architects; Estonian-themed photo exhibition by French photographer Raphael Gianelli-Merian, presentation by environment concerned designer Reet Aus, as well as Estonian animations and a felt toy-making workshop for the little ones, etc.

The core of the event is the design exhibition Size Doesn't Matter, which contrasts the small size of the country, the high number of designers, and the abundance of achievements. The concept of the exhibition has been developed by The Estonian Association of Designers (EDL).

At the same time and as part of Estonia 100 celebrations, the street art project Restart Reality: Digital Street Art will take place in Paris. We are connecting these two projects, and as a result, Estonian stencil artist Edward von Lõngus will create his work on the wall of Cite de la mode et du Design.
